Job 39:1 ESV
This past weekend was our quilt show in Jefferson, and it was quite the success! Somewhere around 900 people total came on Friday and Saturday, and then some more on Sunday. I helped with setting up the show, selling used quilt books/magazines, and then taking it all down. Many hands make the work lighter!
Here are some of my favorite quilts which were exhibited. I didn’t have a quilt in the show this year, but I plan to have some ready for next year. The pictures are less than stellar because 1. lighting was poor and 2. not much room to photograph.
I have a special place in my heart for tumbling block quilts, because that was my mother’s favorite. This one was just beautiful! It was hung in front of a window with light coming through, so that it simply glowed.
This one was unusual–the center medallion is reverse appliqué done by an artisan in Central America, and then the quilt maker just added to it. I couldn’t really tell where one ended and the other began–they did a good job of matching the blue! I’m always attracted to a blue and white quilt.
One of these days I’m going to make a Lone Star quilt–hold me to it! This one was a family heirloom quilt top, and the quilt maker learned to quilt just so she could finish it, and did a beautiful job.
And….here’s the big winner! Another blue and white quilt This one was exquisitely quilted, and won the top awards. There were many beautiful quilts– I’m glad I wasn’t the judge.
Looking forward to next year’s show–y’all should come! January 27-29, 2017
